Who We Are

Formerly known as the Onslow County Partnership for Children (OCPC), One Place is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been serving families of Onslow County and surrounding communities for more than 20 years. By partnering with community and government organizations, we strive to improve the lives of children and families by connecting them with high-quality resources for child care, early education, and child abuse prevention and intervention.

One place creates hope for families by connecting them with resources and programs to end child abuse.

Our Work

To be prepared for life, children need to be safe and healthy, nurtured, learning, and ready to succeed. We are working to ensure that all children receive a healthy start and develop to their full potential in safe and nurturing families, schools, and communities. In Onslow County, we face numerous challenges that stand in the way for children: Child Abuse, Access to Mental Health Services, and Families Don't Know Where to go for Help and Resources.

What We Do

Child Abuse

Child abuse is a complex problem that has long-lasting harmful effects and happens more than you can imagine. We must recognize that child abuse is not someone else's problem.

Each program offered through One Place is designed to serve as a protective factor for children and families. The Protective Factors are five family strengths shown to enhance child development and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. When children are hurt through abuse One Place provides hope and healing through comprehensive services in the Child Advocacy Center. The CAC supports victims of physical and sexual abuse from birth to age 17. Our multidisciplinary treatment model helps children and families access the support they need to heal from abuse.

Mental Health

Without treatment, children who suffer from adverse childhood experiences may have challenges forming healthy relationships, regulating emotions, and living a physically healthy life.

Child Mental Health

Early experiences matter; they mold and shape the developing brain and lay the foundation for a child's sound mental health. One Place provides early education programs that support children's healthy development during the first 2,000 days of life when critical brain development occurs – but that isn't always enough. Children hurt by abuse or through other adverse childhood experiences may need professional help to cope with their trauma, even when they are supported by caring parents and adults.

Social and Emotional Development

Ensuring a child's environment includes positive relationships and nurturing experiences early in life can have community-wide benefits for the future to include reduction in child abuse, lowered rates of incarceration, decreased homelessness, and increased high school graduation rates. At One Place, our programs for young children aim to support social and emotional development and positively impact their mental health.

Families don't know where to go for help and resources they need

As families move into the community it can be difficult to know what the community has to offer and how to access available resources. This can be challenging for families.

When families can locate resources for themselves and their children they are making connections. When more children and families access resources and build connections, we are building a strong foundation for children and families and a stronger community for you and me. A strong community is where we all want to live - where children and families have access to the resources they need to thrive.
