Who We Are

Mama J's Helping Hand assist the homeless, very-low income, jobless and underemployed individuals and their families with special resources. Through a partnership with the North Carolina Food Bank and several area businesses, we supply the very basic needs of food, household supplies, and personal items. We also serve as a valuable liaison for community resources. Since the organization's inception in 2010, we have helped thousands of senior adults, young mothers and fathers, veterans, and infants through extremely difficult times in their lives. And, we are not finished!
In 2015, the Board of Directors voted to expand the program to include a job readiness and workforce development training program. This is the second phase of helping people establish a life of stability. This program will focus on job readiness skills as well as help participants secure employment. Participants in the workFORCE Job Readiness Program must be between 18 and 55, have no pending criminal charges, and be able to present a social security card. The organization will utilize compassionate accountability, using our motto as our guide - Hand Up, Not Hand Out. We support our participants throughout the entire process, fostering a relationship built on understanding of misfortunes of life, while developing personal accountability.
