Volunteer: Community Representative - Onslow and surrounding areasAlzheimer's Association Community Representatives are community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and attend events on our behalf. Commitment is flexible and based on when community event is scheduled. Represent the Alzheimer's Association at a target of 12 community events / year in neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities. Usually involves setting up a table, answering questions, promoting our services and resources. Also support finding and deciding if an event is a good fit. Offer 20-minute Introduction to Alzheimer’s presentations for community organizations, congregations, civic organizations, sororities / fraternities, clubs and other locations. Promote support groups, education programs, Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, or The Longest Day using your local connections, bulletin boards, social media and physical displays in your community.An ability to travel to surrounding counties is helpful! Do you need flexible daytime, weekday, evening and/or volunteer opportunities? Then you are an Alzheimer's Association Community Educator! Alzheimer's Association Community Educators are representatives of the Alzheimer's Association who cultivate opportunities in professional, civic and personal spaces to raise awareness and deliver 30-60 minute educational programs like "Know the 10 Signs, "Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia," and "Navigating a Dementia Diagnosis."
This volunteer has connections to our local military and veteran community and can help find, ask and schedule programs geared toward these audiences both on base and in the community.
