Volunteer: CHEW Food Drive 9-13/2025

Volunteers will be posted at the front doors of Walmart on Yopp Rd handing out flyers and asking for food donations to customers coming in and out of the store. We are in need of food at the CHEW house, so we need to make this a very successful food drive. Please meet at Walmart on Yopp a few minutes before your designated shift time. Just look for the CHEW van.

If you are signing up for the 6:15pm shift, please meet at 

118 Chaney Ave. We will be driving over there when the event

ends at 6pm.

Individuals that receive daily delivered meals experience the greatest improvements in health and quality of life!  Do you have extra time on your hands during the day. Drivers are always needed to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound adults ages 60 and older in Onslow County! The Home Delivered Meals Program is looking for individuals 18 years and older with a driver's license, able to deliver meals in areas local to Senior Services.  Meals are delivered Monday-Friday.  We also know that everyone may not be able to deliver all five days!  How about once or twice a week?  It's an opportunity to improve the quality of someone's life with a meal and a smile.

In addition, you can make a tax-deductible donation to United Way of Onslow County, designating CHEW! as the recipient, for additional food items to be purchased. MENAC, Inc. is seeking a Financial Officer (FO) that will be responsible for all aspects of the financial operations for the agency. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the FO provides accounting, budgetary, operational and programmatic support to all agency programs and activities. The CFO directly oversees and supervises the financial/accounting staff and other departments as directed by the CEO. Actively manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the agency.  Develop budgets for the agency as a whole, individual programs and new/proposed/expanded services, including the preparation of budget revisions as needed.  Prepare, analyze and present monthly financial reports for the agency, its programs, and activities.  Report on financial results and issues to the CEO and Board of Directors.  Oversee and review the preparation of all programs financial reporting required for funding sources.  Manage the Billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts payables functions/staffs and the integration of billing information from the Electronic Health Record system into the accounting system.  Oversee the agency’s banking activities and actively manage cash flow to ensure it meets agency needs.  Manage the negotiation and execution of agency contracts with funding sources, vendors and collaborative service providers.  Manage accounting control systems and internal audits enduring the accurate and timely production of accounting information and financial reports.  Monitor changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures and needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results.  Manage the agency’s liability insurance program, including ongoing risk analysis. Review efficiency/effectiveness of employee benefit programs, seeking approaches to lower costs where possible and consistent with required quality levels.  Serve as the agency’s primary liaison with its independent Auditor to ensure the annual audit is completed smoothly and in a timely manner.

We work with the individuals that have a learning difference such as Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and we work with a specific technique. We will provide the training and material. This volunteering can lead to a paid position as well as working towards a specialized certification.  We are looking for someone to be responsible and dependable. Someone with experience with children is a must. Hours are generally in the evening and some weekends. We are currently serving Onslow county including outside areas of Swansboro and Sneads Ferry.  Sessions are one hour at a time. Tutors will be using the Barton reading system or other OG based methods.
