The district vice chair is a volunteer leader who supports the district chair in overseeing the activities of the district in our local Scouting district, the Southern District. You’ll lead a team of other volunteers to help support Scout units (packs, troops, crews) in your area. Your job is to keep things running smoothly, build community support, and make sure Scouts have the best experience possible.

We are looking for individuals who have a desire to impact youth, Kindergarten through 5th grade, in a positive manner. Using the outdoors as a learning classroom, to develop young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We are looking for individuals who have a desire to impact youth, 14 to 21, in a positive manner. Using the outdoors as a learning classroom, to develop young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Crew leaders are more advisory to the youth, as crew members take more ownership of their programs.

Looking for individuals well connected in the community, that can assist in finding community leaders willing to sit on the Southern District Council overseeing activities, of our local scouting program. Nominating committee members work annually from May to October, with the District Chairman, to find individuals that will serve on the district committee, giving the local community an opportunity to directly support their local Scouting program.

Looking for a person well connected to the community, to assist in helping connect the district scouts to other local organization to help better the youths development in the area of community service. These may include Chamber of Commerce, Veteran Organizations, and other Civic Organizations. You will promote and assist the district  units, in participating in community activities and service projects, which may include parades, flag retirements, flag and wreath placements at cemeteries, assistance at shelters and food kitchen or pantries.

Need community professionals willing to mentor Eagle Scout candidates during their projects, in areas that they specialize in. Examples would be, carpentry, forestry, construction, landscaping, finance and other areas as needed by projects. 

Merit badge counselors are needed to work with youth in all professional fields.  There are 130+ possible merit badges that expose youth to hobby and career interests. Merit Badge counselors need to be at least 21 years of age with expertise or vocation in the specific merit badge as interest.  Volunteers must be willing to complete a BSA application with $25 fee, take the BSA youth protection and pass a criminal background check.  

We are looking for a local person who knows how to navigate social media, to get the word about Scouting. Additionally they would attend the monthly district meeting and take notes. No previous experience with Scouting is required. We are looking for someone who is well connected to the local community.
