Volunteers will be posted at the front doors of Walmart on Yopp Rd handing out flyers and asking for food donations to customers coming in and out of the store. We are in need of food at the CHEW house, so we need to make this a very successful food drive. Please meet at Walmart on Yopp a few minutes before your designated shift time. Just look for the CHEW van.

United Way of Onslow County is hosting its first Annual Campaign Kickball Fundraising Tournament, and we need volunteers. This will be held on September 13th at the Commons Parks & Recreation at the small ball fields 1 & 2. We will need volunteers to help set up, score keep, referee, take down, and perform any other tasks that arise. These will be broken down into shifts. Please let me know if you are someone who is comfortable refereeing that has a sports background.

Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary is a nonprofit rehabilitation center dedicated to the care of injured, orphaned, and displaced native North Carolina wildlife. Volunteers play a vital role in the daily operations of the sanctuary and assist with both releasable wildlife and our resident non-releasable education ambassadors.

Each year, Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary becomes a temporary home to dozens of orphaned baby animals—from nestling birds to tiny squirrels. Individuals that receive daily delivered meals experience the greatest improvements in health and quality of life!  Do you have extra time on your hands during the day. Drivers are always needed to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound adults ages 60 and older in Onslow County! The Home Delivered Meals Program is looking for individuals 18 years and older with a driver's license, able to deliver meals in areas local to Senior Services.  Meals are delivered Monday-Friday.  We also know that everyone may not be able to deliver all five days!  How about once or twice a week?  It's an opportunity to improve the quality of someone's life with a meal and a smile. 

The CHEW house will be open to volunteers on Monday's and Wednesday's from 1pm - 5pm and Tuesday's and Thursday's from 8:30am - 12:30pm. Please just show up when you are available. 118 Chaney Ave.

How it Works...
The CHEW! Program assists over 900 children in our community by providing
backpacks filled with child-friendly, easy to prepare meals over
the weekend. Every week backpacks are distributed to children on Friday.

How can you help? CHEW! is in need of food or monetary donations to stock and maintain a supply of non-perishable food items that will provide nutrition for over 900 of our students each weekend.  Food donations may be dropped off at 118 Chaney Ave. Monday's and Wednesday's from 1:00pm, - 5pm and Tuesday's and Thursday's from 8:30am - 12:30pm. In addition, you can make a tax-deductible donation to United Way of Onslow County, designating CHEW! as the recipient, for additional food items to be purchased. Nominating committee members work annually from May to October, with the District Chairman, to find individuals that will serve on the district committee, giving the local community an opportunity to directly support their local Scouting program.

Merit badge counselors are needed to work with youth in all professional fields.  There are 130+ possible merit badges that expose youth to hobby and career interests. Merit Badge counselors need to be at least 21 years of age with expertise or vocation in the specific merit badge as interest.  Volunteers must be willing to complete a BSA application with $25 fee, take the BSA youth protection and pass a criminal background check.  

We are looking for a local person who knows how to navigate social media, to get the word about Scouting. Additionally they would attend the monthly district meeting and take notes. No previous experience with Scouting is required. We are looking for someone who is well connected to the local community.

We've got small trees & vines to clear and stack up and we do this most mornings beginning at 8 am to around 1 (to enjoy the coolest hours of the day)  This is pleasant, naturally socially-distanced volunteering for individuals, small groups and large groups, alike, in a very pretty location...and often our goats come out to help! Help Safe Harbor Farm in Maysville prepare 2 miles of nature trails (and a dog park) for opening to the dog-walking public. Volunteers clear small trees & vines and help with other outdoor tasks 7 days a week, given good weather. Come for 3-4 hours, or come for the day. Consider signing up as a regular volunteer! Philippians Place Resale Store is in need of volunteers to do furniture pickups and deliveries on Saturday mornings.  We have people who donate items to us but do not have a way to deliver it, so we schedule pickups on Saturday mornings.  Those who purchase furniture from our store can pay for delivery and we schedule those for Saturday mornings as well.  We have a truck and a trailer, furniture blankets, dollies, furniture rollers, straps, gloves, and any other necessity for furniture pick ups, deliveries, and other projects.  We are looking for 2-3 people to volunteer Saturday mornings for 2-3 hours depending on pickup and delivery needs. Volunteers can sign up for specific Saturdays at Philippians Place in order to schedule once or twice a month and/or teams.   

       We have a several social media pages that we need experienced people to help continue to run, and build on. All  computer skills welcome. These jobs can be done from anywhere daily. This consists of music, Fire fighters, musical entertainment.

Hours needed for volunteers are from 9AM to 5PM in 4 hour increments Monday thru Sat. Location for Volunteers is 1200 Gumbranch Rd Jacksonville NC 28540. I am needing about 8 volunteers per week. Work includes: cashier; sorting & hanging clothes; taking in donations; help with picking up donations.

The Salvation Army's Assistance Center is in need of Food Pantry helpers! Food Pantry helpers are needed to help prepare food boxes for clients. Additional duties include cleaning the food pantry, assisting clients with loading their food boxes and sorting food items by date in our pantry.

Belgrade Community Building is in need of art supplies, office supplies, cleaning supplies, and non- perishable food for daily senior programs.

Need volunteers to install flooring and baseboards through out a home.  The flooring is laminate and has to be cut and taped in.  There is also a mat required under the flooring.  Volunteer must be familiar with flooring and have the appropriate tools.  Volunteers must be able to work independently.  Contact Salim Abraham (910) 554-0621 for location and additional details.

The Jaded Paws Rescue presents its annual NO MORE COLD PAWS program. Every year, multiple families call us for help with their outdoor pets/strays. While in many cases, education goes a long way, sometimes all that's required is help. Through this program, our goal is to help either bring pets in by donating kennels, or to help owners give their outdoor pets a better option by staying warm and dry, through donated dog houses and straw. A little help can go a long way with this program.

While our primary focus is to rescue, as a team we understand that we need to be more involved within our community, so a year ago we opened our doors as the local pet food pantry. Through the JPR Pet Food Pantry, we provide FREE pet food to families that are low income, and or financially struggling as a way of keeping them together. Our goal as a rescue, is always pet retention, keeping these pets in their homes, versus ending up on the streets and or in the shelter systems.

Volunteers will meet with clients regularly to determine any needs, address client concerns and maintain timely and accurate case notes. Looking for teachers or retired teachers that would like to tutor struggling readers. We work with the individuals that have a learning difference such as Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and we work with a specific technique. We will provide the training and material. This volunteering can lead to a paid position as well as working towards a specialized certification.  We are looking for someone to be responsible and dependable. Someone with experience with children is a must. Hours are generally in the evening and some weekends. We are currently serving Onslow county including outside areas of Swansboro and Sneads Ferry.  Sessions are one hour at a time. Tutors will be using the Barton reading system or other OG based methods.  Our mission is to creative solutions for Dyslexia, ADHD, ADD through Tutoring, Educating, Advocating, Mentoring and building self-esteem using one's individual strengths. We would like to highlight the wheel house we offer and our TEAM approach. We have several different areas and need someone to help with a budget for each area. Also, need help with projecting a budget for larger events and to help with developing budgets for grants. Looking for someone good at setting up spreadsheets and tracking spending is a must. Also requires monthly meetings to review budget with the board members.
