Who We Are
History
NECTAR was founded in 2020 and received in 501(C)(3) designation in early 2021. The organization's original founders wanted to create an inclusive educational format that focused on kids' natural curiosity and nature-based kinetic learning experiences.
NECTAR is an acronym for Nature, Education, Conservation, Art, and Recreation, and frames its programs and services on innovative, inquiry-driven educational programs to the community. NECTAR activities are facilitated by professional scientists, zoologists, and artists who use their education, experience, and passion to create and share kinetic activities that inspire and teach. Each program focuses on a specific topic, while also building communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Whether attending our Junior Biologist Camp on the banks of the New River; attending the "Go Wild" Science Club or M-Power Engineering Club held at Zing Zumm Children's Museum, or hosting one of our exciting animal ambassador programs at your school or group, NECTAR provides flexible, accurate, and kinetic learning experiences for every age and ability.
What We Do
NECTAR provides all sorts of STEAM education formats through the lens of the environment. Whether providing science-based club activities at Zing Zumm Children's Museum, spring and summer camps, animal outreach, girl/boy scout merit badge activities, community events, or various customized programs and services, NECTAR believes nature-based learning helps concepts stick!
If you'd like to work with kids, animals, in education, the outdoors, admin, or all of the above .... reach out to NECTAR to learn more.
